Strength in Community: Community as Soul Medicine
Thurs, May 21, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Right now, in every culture, in every family, in every community group, organization, and institution, there’s a story being told. Sometimes the story is clear and inspiring, and other times it’s hidden beneath frustration, fear, and blame. But no matter how it’s told, every story shapes behavior. And for individuals and community members, the ability to reframe a narrative is one of the most powerful tools we have. Because language doesn’t just describe reality. It creates it. The future will be shaped not only by technology and policy but by the stories we choose to tell, listen to, and pass on. Consider attending this conversation and sharing a narrative you have reframed or one you would like to reframe.

This Mental Health Month Awareness Month, tend to your well-being with an interactive Breath-Body-Mind session.
The New York State Trauma Informed Network & Resource Center (TINRC), funded by New York State Office of Mental Health, aims to uplift the principles of trauma-informed care and create a place for learning, knowledge sharing, and resources to promote trauma-informed work and wellness practices. In this session, participants will learn about TINRC initiatives with a specific focus on BREATH-BODY-MIND™ (BBM) to support and promote wellness. BBM is a set of gentle, science-based breathing exercises grounded in ancient wisdom practices. Research shows that these practices, which can be performed anywhere, help restore balance to the nervous system, improve sleep quality and mood, reduce tension, build stress tolerance, and sharpen mental capacity. In this experiential workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice these relaxation techniques to help ease stress, calm the mind, and strengthen self-regulation.
Join presenter Denise Quamina as she introduces parents and caregivers to the science behind calming your body during periods of stress. Practice BBM techniques and learn how you can bring its benefits to your children and communities!
