MHANYS has a lot of priorities in the State of the State in regard to mental health. We have documents on our issues that we have shared with the Executive on parity, college mental health, leave of absence policies, school pipeline to careers in mental health, criminal justice, pension reform for the human service workforce and several others but the bottom line for the State of the State and Budget is around our workforce. The impressive vision that Governor Hochul has demonstrated in mental health will only come to fruition with a well-compensated work force.
We urge that the Governor support human services workforce funding that includes:
COLA of 3.2% and a Five Hundred Million Dollar Investment in Behavioral Health.
Attachment 1 provides a history of the lack of a COLA for the human service workforce. Human Services Workforce Funding
Attachment 2 details the rational of the COLA and the Investment. History of the human services COLA
