The comment period for the regulation related to network adequacy for plans were due yesterday in regard to mental health parity.
Through MHANYS Counsel (and longtime OMH Counsel), John Tauriello, we provided an attached overview voicing our concerns in regard to timing and enforcement of network adequacy.
For too many years, there have been lot of excuses as to why parity has not been appropriately enforced. The time for excuses is over.
This proposed regulation needs to be in place. If someone needs a mental health appointment, they will have to wait no more than ten days to meet with a mental health professional. So many of our loved ones reach out when they are in crisis and to have to spend weeks or months waiting for an appointment. This is unconscionable
We strongly support Governor Hochul in proposing these regulatory changes.
