MH Update – 6/2/21 – Support Senate Bill S6431-Urgent Call to Action: Please Call Today to Support an Extension of the Professional Licensure Exemption

Thanks to our friends at Northern Rivers for leading the charge to support the one year extension of the professional licensure exemption. Please call Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins today.

Everyone reading this benefits from mental health services, provides these services, or knows someone who does. We are 48 hours away from a decision in the NYS Senate that will devastate the mental health profession in New York State. We are asking everyone reading this to call Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.

When you call or email, say the following:

My name is NAME, and I live in AREA. I am calling/emailing because I am asking the Senator to support Senate Bill S6431, which would provide a one-year extension of the professional licensure exemption. The passage of this bill by the end of the legislative session is critical to ensure that we have adequate mental health professionals to serve New Yorkers’ mental health needs this year. Thank you.

If this exemption bill does not pass in the Senate, there will not be enough mental health professionals available to help New Yorkers at a time when we need more mental health resources than ever.

Call today. Email today. Do it again tomorrow. Our staff, families, clients, and communities need this.
