MH Update – 6/13/19 – New Jersey Assembly Proposes Adding Mental Health Education in Schools


More and more States are continuing to follow the lead of New York in making it mandatory to teach about Mental Health in Schools. We are pleased to see that New Jersey is working on similar legislation that will hopefully be passed and signed into law. This is from today’s Crain’s.

MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS — NJ Biz’s Anthony Vecchione: “The Assembly Education Committee cleared legislation on Monday that would integrate mental health education into health and physical education classes for all K-12 students. Assembly Bill 4446/4592 … would require health education programs in New Jersey schools to include age-appropriate instruction on mental health, including information on substance abuse.” Read more here.
