MH Update – 4/1/19 – COLA Update

Yesterday, when I did our budget summary, I didn’t fully thank the thousands of you who were supportive and took the time to call in and meet with legislators regarding COLA. There were also the thousands of women who sent personal notes to the Governor imploring him to support the human service workforce, recognizing that 81% of the workforce are women and that 46% are women of color.

Last year at this time, you could count on the fingers of one hand, the number of people who even knew what the COLA stood for. A year later, we have mobilized and created a large and robust constituency that will spend the next nine months working to get additional funding in the Governor’s Executive Budget for 2020—2021.

You will be hearing loud and clear from the entire human service world how much a COLA means to our workforce. We will move from frustration to triumph.

Thank you for everything. Remember to stand with #TeamCOLA
