MH Update – 3/26/19 – Keep COLA Calls Coming: Urge Albany to Get the COLA in This Week’s Budget Deal!

March 26 Update: Workforce pay hikes are in the spotlight in Albany since yesterday’s announcement by the Governor’s counsel that a budget agreement must include the ‘bFair’ increases that are only for some direct care workers for those with developmental disabilities.

We need to continue to make legislators understand that our across-the-board COLA ask for the entire human services community is distinctly different and still needs to be addressed: keep pouring it on to keep the COLA in front of all of them!

CALL YOUR OWN LEGISLATORS TODAY AND ADD THEIR LEADERS AS REFERENCED BELOW!

TAKE ACTION THIS MORNING TO GET THE
HUMAN SERVICES COLA IN THIS YEAR’S BUDGET!

With only a week to go, we need a huge call in drive today to make sure that our 2.9% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) is in the final budget agreement!

Further, we need to emphasize that the only way to address the staffing crisis for ALL human service nonprofits is with an across the board COLA!

URGENT: Make 4 Calls Now!

Find out the name and phone number of your Senate at www.nysenate.gov/find-my-senator and your Assembly member at nyassembly.gov/mem/search/ .

THIS MORNING

Call your Senator and Assembly Member again today and include 2 more calls to their legislative leaders

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie at 518-455-3791

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins at 518-455-2585

and leave the following message

“I’m a registered voter from (your locality) calling to make clear that the only way to address the crisis faced by ALL of NY’s human service workers is via a 2.9% COLA. Inclusion of the COLA in this year’s budget agreement must be one of your highest priorities!”

Thank you!
