This Center of Excellence, funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is designed to support the implementation of change strategies within mental health and substance use disorder treatment systems to address disparities impacting the LGBTQ+ community. This 6-module course will equip behavioral health providers with information and practice tips to improve services for LGBTQ+ people in their care. This self-paced course provides information on terminology, general identity development, disparities among LGBTQ+ populations across the lifespan, and best practices for behavioral health providers.
Modules include:
– Exploring SOGIE-Focused Terminology
– Understanding the Unique Needs of LGBTQ+ People
– Working with Transgender and Nonbinary Populations
– Exploration of Intersectionality
– Addressing Biases within Ourselves, Systems, and Providers
– Creating a Welcoming Environment: Enhancing Diversity and Non-Discrimination Policies and Practices
