What an incredible day yesterday in Albany! Over 350 people rallied at the steps of the Capitol, calling for the 7.8% funding investment. What was so powerful about this group was that these were the front-facing people who work in the human services field every day for an average salary of $36,000 a year. Folks run the gamut from mental health, substance use, foster care, elderly, developmental disabilities, child welfare, domestic violence shelters, food pantries, and much more.
What a day, and kudos to Senator Jessica Ramos, Assembly member Harvey Epstein, and Michelle Jackson, HSC Director, for a great showing of support.
For another upcoming rally and event, join MHANYS and AFSP’s Mental Health Matters Day this Wednesday at the Empire Convention Center in Albany. Register at www.mhanys.org
