Mental Health Update

For School and District Administrators this Holiday Season

Administrators never really take breaks – or at least that’s the running “joke.” But as many of you prepare for a week away from the routine of school bells, buses and bustling cafeterias, the Resource Center staff shares its best wishes for you and your loved ones this holiday season and for 2023. We are looking forward to more opportunities to connect and engage with districts across the state as they continue to address the challenges and opportunities relating to mental health and wellness in their schools, districts and communities. If you haven’t visited our new website, make a reminder to do so soon! Thank you for everything you do to make a difference in the lives of your students and communities.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
-Brandon, Susan, Stephanie and Jennifer

Mental Health Check-In Question
“What’s one thing that you’re
looking forward to this time of year?”
Use the mental health check-in question in a variety of different ways: as part of your own self- reflection, as a broader discussion with students about their self care practices, to share with teachers and school staff to check in with their students or share with parents/caregivers as a simple way to check-in with their child.

“Sometimes self care is exercise and eating right. Sometimes it’s spending time with loved ones or taking a nap. And sometimes it’s watching an entire season of TV in one weekend while you lounge around in your pajamas. Whatever soothes your soul.”
