This chapter of the budget is over and there is much to analyze in the mental health space. We have spent a great deal of time and effort on the Inflationary Increase for Human Services but we have also been very engaged in the discussion of both Kendra’s Law and inpatient treatment, incident review panels, Daniel’s Law, discharge planning, Parity, Prescriber Prevails, Adult Home Reform, and much more.
We will get into greater detail in the weeks ahead and then focus on our priorities for the rest of this legislative session around higher education and mental health, teacher education and mental health, and legislation for first responders.
I have the honor of working with incredible professionals every day. Kudos to MHANYS Public Policy Director, John Richter, Counsel, John Tauriello, and Strategist, Jamie Papapetros for producing this comprehensive report, which can be accessed here.
