We need to roll back the mental health directive increasing the scope and authority of the police to involuntarily detain New Yorkers they perceive to be mentally ill. We need to call on the Mayor to invest in mental health supports and related services for Black, Latinx, and other communities of color.
For 40 years, the National Alliance on Mental Illness of NYC has offered life-changing support, education, and advocacy programs to families and individuals living with mental illness. We offer classes, support groups, resources, and a Helpline in English, Spanish, and 180 other languages. Available free of charge to anyone who needs it. Learn more at www.naminyc.org.
