ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — Next month, more than 300 people will gather in Albany to honor Mental Health Matters Day.

It’s an annual tradition, bringing the community together to support critical mental health investments and programs.

The event happens on March 11th at the Empire State Plaza Convention Hall.

The day of advocacy is being held in partnership with the Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)

Supporters in attendance include mental health professionals, advocates, high school and college students, teachers, school administrators and staff, first responders, and members of MHANYS and AFSP.

Amidst the mental health crisis, there are five key areas the day will focus on- support for the mental health not-for-profit workforce, school mental health, college mental health, suicide prevention, and support of first responders’ mental health and wellness.

Mental Health Association of New York State CEO Glenn Liebman joined the CBS6 Weekend Morning team to share more.
