A Common-Sense Approach to Red Tape Reform in the Behavioral Health Workforce

Commentary & Opinion

I encourage you to listen to this. It’s a commentary from Bill Gettman, CEO of Northern Rivers and MHANYS Board Member, offering a practical, common-sense approach to reforming “red tape,” including the idea of a Portable Clearance Passport. He highlights the real impact that redundant regulations have on people, while also giving credit to Governor Hochul for launching “Express New York,” an initiative aimed at reducing unnecessary regulatory burden.

Having been part of these conversations for many years, it brings to mind Mark Twain’s observation about the weather: “Everybody talks about it, but nobody does anything about it.” I’m hopeful that the Governor’s Express New York program, along with Bill’s “Less Red Tape Initiative,” will finally begin to turn the tide.
