07/18/2022 – FW: Coordinated Behavioral Care’s Training Institute’s training sessions for August 2022


We are sharing an exciting opportunity to participate in FREE trainings courtesy of CBC Training Institute (TI). Training menu link and background info on CBC TI are below.Coordinated Behavioral Care’s Training Institute (CBC TI) is a current recipient of grant funding from SAMHSA and is using these funds to deliver self-care training to mental health professionals across New York State. CBC TI has assembled experts from across the country to help front-line staff heal following a taxing two plus years serving vulnerable
communities during a global pandemic. Our trainings this month include: a three-part series on STAIR, which is a manualized approach to the treatment of trauma, and a training on using recovery-oriented language with colleagues and clients alike. Understanding & Talking About Suicide Risk With Your Clients

Conversations around suicide can be challenging but are deeply important in our line of work. In this training, providers will learn how to work with at-risk service recipients and to support those that are contemplating suicide. This information is integral to all providers’ professional growth, and saves lives.

STAIR I
Trainer: Juliana Steen, LMSW (CBC)

Thursday, August 11 (11am-12:30pm)

Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) is a short-term trauma-informed, skills-focused treatment for PTSD and depression symptoms. The STAIR model consists of a three-part, eight-session, progressive intervention that helps individuals reduce PTSD symptoms, strengthen emotional regulation and improve the quality of
interpersonal relationships. Since this is a three-part training, it is strongly recommended that you participate in all sections of the training. Part I will consist of an overview of the model and will cover the content of sessions 1-3.

STAIR II

Using Recovery Language
Trainer: Emily Grossman, MA CPRP (CBC)

Wednesday, August 24 (10:30am**-12pm)

This training will look specifically at the language we use when talking about behavioral health clients. We will compare “traditional model” language with “recovery” language, and explore how to implement “recovery” language to improve client services. This training will follow the tenet that “what I say about clients becomes how I treat clients, and how I treat
clients becomes how they treat themselves.”
