Several years ago, MHANYS advocated for creating a mental health license plate. A bill was then signed into law. Recently, in legislation introduced by Assembly member Gunther, language was added that the license plate be highlighted on the OMH Web Page. Listed below is a copy of the webpage.
Also this is a reminder that any funds recouped by the State for the license plate goes to a fund created by the Office of Mental Health to be utilized for anti-stigma work in the community.

The annual custom plate renewal fee is in addition to your vehicle registration renewal fee. You will be billed for the plates every two years when you renew your registration. $25 of the annual fee supports the Mental Illness Anti-Stigma Fund.

Ordering online is faster and easier than ordering by phone, mail, or in an office.
- you must have a valid NY State registration that does not expire within 60 days. This will have your current plate number and registration class code. See a sample registration document. 1
- your name and address must be up to date with DMV. You can change your address online before ordering picture or professional plates. 2
- you must have a credit or debit card that DMV accepts, and a valid email address for confirmation purposes.
