Mental Health Matters Day

March 11th, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
A tradition for nearly three decades, advocates visit Albany on Mental Health Matters Day to rally support for critical investments and programs that support mental health and suicide prevention in communities across New York State. MHANYS is partnering for this event with the New York chapters of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Mental Health Matters Day is structured into three parts from 8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. as follows: (1) Breakfast and morning policy orientation and briefing, (2) Mental Health Matters Day rally, and, (3) an opportunity to meet with their legislators in the afternoon. Family Education: Supporting School Mental Health in 2026: A Conversation with the SMHRTCenter’s New Director

We are thrilled to welcome Donna Bradbury, LMHC as the new Director of the School Mental Health Resource & Training Center. Join our Family Education Webinar on January 29th from 7:00pm – 8:00pm for an interactive conversation with Donna about the state of school mental health in 2026. Learn more about her priorities and goals for the SMHRTCenter. Participants will be able to share their ideas in conversation with Donna. Donna brings over 30 years of experience to the SMHRTCenter. Most recently as a consultant to MHANYS, Donna previously worked as the Senior Director of the Sr. Thea Bowman Center for Women at Siena University. Prior to her role at Siena, Donna’s distinguished career in public service saw her continually advocate for children and families as Associate Commissioner at the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Educator Cafe: Every Conversation Counts: Amplifying Teen Voices with Bring Change to Mind

Over the past decade, Bring Change to Mind has advanced a powerful message: “Every Conversation Counts”. Every time a person listens, shares, or offers support, stigma is chipped away and mental health awareness is strengthened. This panel presentation centers student voices to examine how everyday conversations in schools and communities serve as pivotal gateways for wellness, connection, and stigma reduction.

No-Cost Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid Training for Schools and Community Organizations

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.
