Mental Health & Wellness 101

Registration is closed for this event

MHANYS and WMHT have partnered to provide a platform for training in practical skills for mental health awareness and agency. We would like audiences to have some tangible action steps after engaging with the documentary and our local content by connecting them to local resources. WMHT is working collaboratively with project partners to create multi-platform content that tells stories about youth mental health and community engagement events that prompt discussions around the documentary HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT: YOUTH MENTAL ILLNESS. Please feel free to share with friends, family and colleagues who are interested in learning more about mental health and gaining skills and strategies for engaging in a dialogue about mental health.

This year New York Public Media stations are engaging in a state-wide effort to bring awareness to the issue of teen suicide. Funded by New York State Education Dept., WNET leads the effort to create a teacher professional development toolkit to improve student mental health. Using PBS Learning Media, teachers will better understand and address self-harm among students. Teachers will receive professional development credit upon completion. Please look forward to the toolkit and other content available from your local station.
