Active Minds
Active Minds is the leading nonprofit organization that empowers students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking.  They are changing the culture on campuses and in the community by providing information, leadership opportunities and advocacy training to the next generation.

The Youth Advisory Panel was established to advise the P-12: Office of Special Education on proposed policies related to the education of students with disabilities.  Panel members engage in facilitated discussions with NYSED staff on policy issues relating to the education of students with disabilities.

United Advocates for Children and Families (Transition Age Youth)
Like most young people, TAY/YA are struggling to start out with limited resources and experience and are or can be struggling with issues such as substance abuse disorders, homelessness, aging out of the children’s mental health, child welfare, or juvenile justice systems, or experiencing their first episode of major mental illness.

YOUTH POWER! is the New York State network of young people who have been labeled and are seeking change. Together, we have decided to speak up about our experiences because no one knows what it is like for us better than we do. Through peer-to-peer mentoring, we empower young people to be active citizens, aware of government operations, their rights and the ability to use their voices to influence policies, practices, regulation and law. We are young people helping other people, ensuring availability of self-help and peer support while changing systems so that young people get the support they need with the respect and dignity they deserve.

ACT for Youth Center of Excellence
