Listed below is a link to a story on the local Albany WABC affiliate about
the importance of mental health education for law enforcement. The article
highlights the innovative work of Warren/Washington Counties and
specifically the work of Officer Jim Banish (a board member of the
Warren/Washington Association for Mental Health). Retired Troy Police
Captain John Cooney is also featured in the article talking about Mental
Health First Aid. Captain Cooney is one of the trainers that MHA utilizes
in our work.

Thanks to the New York State Senate and the New York State Office of
Mental Health, we continue to provide Mental Health First Aid trainings to
law enforcement personnel. If you have any interest in learning more about
Mental Health First Aid, please feel free to contact us. Most of our
members across New York State provide Mental Health First Aid Training.
