Thanks to the MHANYS Board of Directors, Affiliates, Staff and our friends
in the community for supporting our *Mix and Mingle* event last night
recognizing May as Mental Health Month. Pictured are the first recipients
of the MHANYS Community Mental Health and Wellness Award; shown with MHANYS
staff are representatives from CEO of Troy, Schenectady County Community
College, and Saratoga Public Library. These organizations were the first
three to partner with us on our SAMHSA Capital Region Project AWARE
(Advancing Wellness and Resilience Education) community grant. Through our
partnership with these agencies, we have provided Mental Health First Aid
training to over three hundred people in the Capital District who work with
transitional age youth. Through these collaborations and those with other
not for profits, we continue to spread the word about ending the stigma of
mental illness in our Capital District community.

We also want to acknowledge several of our VIPs in attendance last night
including, Assembly Mental Hygiene Chair, Aileen Gunther and Senate Mental
Hygiene Chair, Robert Ortt. Several other legislative friends attended
including Assembly members Fahy, McDonald, Santabarbara and Weprin.
