Still time to register for MHANYS Mental Health Matters Legislative Day on
March 9th

With predictions of weather on March 9th in the mid 60’s in Albany, we are
gearing up for our MHANYS Annual Legislative Conference and rally. This
year advocates from across New York State are joining our MHA members,
veterans, youth and many others who are coming to Albany to support ‘Mental
Health Matters’ Legislative Day.

We are pleased that among the announced speakers are Mental Health
Commissioner, Dr. Ann Sullivan, Assembly Mental Hygiene Chair, Aileen
Gunther, Assembly Chair of the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force, Marcus
Crespo, Senate Mental Hygiene Chair, Robert Ortt, Senate Minority Mental
Health Chair, Jesse Hamilton and Senate Social Services Chair, David
Carlucci and many other speakers.

We will also be honoring Assembly member Gunther and Senators Carlucci and
Ortt for their leadership in the passage of the Mental Health Tax Check Off
Bill.

This year our advocacy will be focused on the call for a $90 million
investment in community mental health and legislation regarding mental
health education in schools. We will also carry many other issues including
our support for veterans mental health services, prescriber prevails for
all medications, adult home reform, funding for community housing, criminal
justice reform, enhanced mental health services in schools and much more.
