The Mental Health Association in New York State, Inc. and the School Mental Health Resource and Training Center is pleased to present...

Mental Health and Wellness 101 for Families and Caregivers
Friday, February 28 from 12:00 to 12:30 pm

This webinar presents mental health as a continuum of wellness and an integral part of our overall health, and encourages treatment seeking behavior and self-care to manage stress.

MHANYS School Mental Health Resource and Training Center will be hosting a series of monthly webinars curated for families and caregivers as part of our Family Education Project to help reduce stigma and promote mental health.

Why join our webinar series?
In July of 2018, New York State implemented a law requiring mental health instruction as part of the K-12 health curriculum. We believe a universal approach - one that educates all students, families, school personnel and communities - will reframe the conversation around mental health to one that emphasizes mental health promotion, early intervention and the reduction of stigma.

In addition, approximately half of all lifetime cases of mental health disorders begin by the age of 14, and three-quarters by the age of 24. With early intervention and modeling health promoting behaviors, we can support the emotional development of youth and mitigate the troublesome effects of mental health conditions.

Please share with families in your community and stay tuned for more webinars!
