Get Trained Now In Mental Health & Wellness 101 in the Workplace

Take part in the Mental Health Association in New York State Inc. (MHANYS) Capital Region Project AWARE.  This project provides free training to individuals who work with or support community members in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, or Schenectady County. By September 2021, MHANYS will train over 830 individuals across Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties. Participants will improve their mental health literacy by increasing awareness, care, and support that the General Public receives for behavioral health challenges.

Mental Health & Wellness 101 in the Workplace is a 1-hour training that offers a basic understanding of mental health and reframes the conversation about mental health – teaching that we ALL have mental health; it’s not just about the presence or absence of an illness. The training will help participants understand mental health as an integral part of overall health, prevalence of mental illness, risk, and protective factors, to reduce stigma and to promote wellness and recovery in the workplace.

Why is this important?

Consider this: 1 in 5 American adults are living with a mental disorder. Employees living with behavioral health challenges exist in most workplaces. Statistics show that depression and anxiety cost the global economy an estimated $1 trillion annually in lost productivity. Mental Health and recovery are dependent on an individual’s ability to recognize and manage where he/she is each day on the continuum between wellness and illness and take care accordingly, an important piece to quality of life. Education and early intervention promotes wellness.
